We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist / Data Engineer to lead our algorithm development. The ideal candidate will be adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimisation, and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex data analysis projects that drive business decisions and efficiencies.
  • Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to datasets.
  • Use predictive modelling to forecast and optimise key business metrics
  • Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes.
  • Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Relevant real-world experience in Data Science.
    • Proven experience in leading and executing data-driven projects.
  • Education: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong problem-solving skills with an emphasis on product development.
    • Proficiency in using statistical computer languages (primarily Python, Numpy, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data sets.
    • Experience using web services (incl. Redshift, S3, etc.)
    • Knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, neural networks, properties of distributions, statistical tests, etc.) and experience with applications.
    • Extensive experience with data processing, database programming, and data analytics.
    • Experience with machine learning frameworks (like Keras or PyTorch) and libraries (like scikit-learn)
    • Familiarity with neural network algorithms and their real-world advantages/drawbacks.
    • Strong grasp of cloud services and distributed data computing.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for coordinating across teams.
    • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

What will you be doing?

As a pivotal member of our data science team, your role will involve:

  • Algorithm Development: Enhance the capabilities of our existing machine learning algorithms and play a key role in developing new models. This includes everything from conceptualization to deployment.
  • Data Analysis: Work with complex, real-world datasets to extract actionable insights, identify trends, and inform product design decisions.
  • Collaboration and Innovation: Collaborate closely with our product development team to integrate financial and environmental impact analyses into our platform. Your contributions will be crucial in driving innovation in sustainable product design.
  • Cloud-Based Solutions: Engage with cloud-based technologies to manage and process large data sets efficiently, ensuring scalability and robustness of our solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively seek ways to improve our algorithms' accuracy and efficiency, staying abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning and data science.
